James Taylor

James Taylor (March 29, 1835 Kincardineshire, Scotland - May 2, 1892 Kandy, British Ceylon) was a British citizen who introduced tea plantation to British Ceylon. He arrived to British Ceylon in 1852 and settled down in Loolecondera estate in Galaha. Here he worked with Thomas Lipton, a Scottish immigrant, to develop the tea industry in British Ceylon.[1][2] He continued to live in British Ceylon until his death (more than half of his lifetime).

This mountain visible from Kandy town is a short distance, away south west of the city. It has been declared as environmental protection area in 2010. Maximum height is 3800 ft. it consists of seven peaks the highest being Uragala Mountain for a full trail start from Kandy 3 to 4 hour hike. On this trail one could visit James Taylor Tea Museum, tea factory, joing in Tea plucking, which would be an experience. Lunch would be served by the mountain top. Refreshment a can beer from the house served. Late afternoon drive back to Kandy to be dropped at hotel.
